It was the year 2000. Having identified an opportunity in the market, Norman Gottlieb set off overseas to research new textiles for the marine and awning industry. Norm walked through the German R&T trade show in February that year and struck up a conversation with a Spanish company called Citel. Having both come from family owned businesses, a relationship was immediately formed and a small range of acrylic canvas, targeting the marine market, soon hit the shores of Australia. As the years went by, the demand for Docril grew, along with the range to service this demand, not only in the marine sector, but also in the external blind and awning market.
Fast forward to 2019 and the Docril range, which now consists of 35 solid colours and 38 striped designs, is the number one selling acrylic canvas in the country,
This 100% solution dyed acrylic can be used for awnings, umbrellas, marine projects and outdoor upholstery. The solution dyed process ensures long lasting colour.
