What type of fabric do you use for awnings?
The dictionary describes an awning as a sheet of canvas or other material stretched on a frame and used to keep the sun or rain off a shop window, doorway, or ship’s deck.
At Ricky, that is pretty much how we would describe an awning too, although we would add that awnings can also be installed at your home or office space. Whilst offering excellent weather protection awnings also provide energy savings and can extend your outdoor living amenity.
There are a variety of different types of awnings available in the market. Along with the above-mentioned canvas, PVC mesh and solution dyed acrylic are also popular fabrics to use. Knowing which fabric is best suited for your application will ensure that your awning will last for many years.
