• Ronnies Ramble S2, E10: Importance of Dual Sided Learning

The textile industry has been around for a long time and has been going through many changes. But the one thing that hasn't changed? The importance of learning from both sides. Team learning!

"...there are a lot of people who think they know everything. But when you sort of delve in a bit deeper, maybe they don't quite know as much as they professed to. So I think team learning is critical. As a leader, while you may think you know everything, I can guarantee you don't…So I think it's really important to involve people." Ricky says.

Today, there are a lot of challenges in the industry. At the same time, we are witnessing how newer technologies are being introduced, changing how we think and do business. Team learning can be a powerful tool to help move forward and spur innovation in the textile industry.

"One of the things I've always said…when I used to employ people…' your view is as valid as anybody else's even in the first week.' If you think you've got an idea of something, please bring it to the table." Ricky says.

The industry is continuously evolving, and in order to keep up with the changing demand from customers and technology, there is a need to rethink our approach. The future of the industry will require both innovation and collaboration at every level of business.

For Ricky, there is no such thing as a "bad idea." And while he recognises that not every idea will work straight away, somebody else might have another idea that can support your idea, and from that, an idea that can work can be born.

Team learning is about building something that can thrive by sharing knowledge, experience, and resources. It's all about forming strong relationships where one can leverage each other's strengths to continue growing together.

Each team member has the power to make a difference in the industry, and working together accelerates this process. When they work with and learn from each other, they can come up with better ideas that can propel the industry as a whole.

Listen to Ron talk about how team learning is essential in developing the textile industry. It is a process that allows companies to help their employees grow and develop while also enriching the company to be a pool of collaborative power as a result. It is something Ron has always pursued and endeavored in his own company.
